The Ribeira district of Porto sits along the banks of the Douro river. It is teeming with life and vivid colour. In this historic centre of the city, medieval streets and alleys are filled with all types of ancient buildings, crumbling and decaying houses sit side by side with newly painted pastel abodes in all the tones of the rainbow. Each of them topped with a bright red tiled roof, so typical of Porto. It's a hugely atmospheric place and I think this is reflected in the architecture, spirited and lively, varied and mixed, there is something for everyone in this beautiful Portuguese city. On the right of the frame is the landmark Dom Luis I Bridge, the most well known of the six bridges spanning the Douro River. I blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment the vintage feel of this historic Porto scene.
