Description
When visiting Vienna's Prater Park, people usually want to see the Wiener Riesenrad, the big wheel featured in the movie 'The Third Man'. After photographing this Viennese landmark, I took a walk farther into the park, it was almost deserted in the out of season late afternoon and I was fortunate to have the place almost to myself. Rides closed for winter creaked eerily as I passed them by. Garishly painted cartoon character eyes seemed to watch me as I moved around. Carriages swaying in the breeze sat empty of people. Eventually I arrived beside this huge lesser known Ferris Wheel. It towered over me casting long shadows in the watery sunlight and I felt very small standing next to it. I was sure I could hear laughter carried in the wind as it waited patiently for summer. I hand blended a selection of textures with my original photograph to compliment the mystical feel of this classic carnival scene.
