Description
One of the most fascinating aspects of Lisbon's Old Town is the classic trams trundling up and down the many hills and narrow winding streets, usually packed to capacity and ringing their wee bells to alert pedestrians of their approach. No trip to the Portuguese capital is complete without a trip on a Lisbon tram. Sometimes covered in colourful graffiti, (no amount of repainting in the traditional yellow and white deters the local street artists), the 3 ascensors of the city blend chameleon like into the background of equally vibrantly decorated walls. Pictured here is the Ascensor do Lavra which has been operating since 1884 and is still climbing that steep hill regularly! I blended a little texture with my original photograph in black and white to compliment the historic feel of this old world Lisbon tram scene.
