Description
Edinburgh Castle is the crown jewel of Scotland's capital city. From its vantage point high on Castle Rock, it towers over the entire area and dominates the landscape. With a very extensive history going all the way back to the 12th Century and beyond, the castle has amassed its fair share of captivating myths and legends over the years and welcomed many a distinguished guest, including Mary Queen of Scots, who gave birth to her only child, James VI when staying at the castle in 1566. A monumental fortress, it can be seen from all over Edinburgh, even from above, when arriving by plane. This magnificent Scottish castle also plays host to the yearly Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, where the haunting sounds of the bagpipes can be heard for miles around. Here, the castle is seen from the side view. I blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment this historic Scottish scene.
