Description
Winged Lions are the symbol of Venice and in the year 1404 when the city of Verona fell under the governing rule of the very powerful Republic of Venice, winged lions of St Mark were placed in squares, towers and public buildings. This one is atop a column on Piazza delle Erbe, the main market square in heart of Verona old town. Behind the lion is the baroque style Palazzo Maffei, a historic palace with a history dating back to the 15th century. Winged Lion Piazza delle Erbe Verona has added textures to complete the vintage feel of the image.
