Description
The charming old city of Strasbourg is located in Eastern France, near the border with Germany. Capital of the Alsace region, it is home to the official seat of the European Parliament, so there are both old and new places of interest to be found in this lovely area. The historic centre, Grand Ile (Grand Island) is a UNESCO World Heritage site and as such attracts many visitors from all over the globe who wish to take a step back in time in this picturesque medieval gem. The pastel toned half-timbered houses and quaint winding canals of the Petit France neighbourhood are particularly pleasing to the eye and there is something worth photographing at every turn. Pictured here is the Cathedral of Notre Dame, an imposing example of gothic architecture in pink sandstone, with a history dating all the way back to the year 1015. I blended a little texture with my original black and white photograph to compliment this old world French scene.
