Description
Spanning the mighty Garonne River since the early 19th Century, the Pont de Pierre was the first bridge to cross the River and connect the right and left banks of the city. One of the main landmarks of Bordeaux, this historic stone bridge, commissioned by Napoleon himself, has no less than 17 arches, which also happens to be the number of letters in the name Napoleon Bonaparte! Beyond the bridge, the spire of The Basilica of St Michael can be seen, built in the gothic architectural style in between the 14th and 16th centuries, this magnificent building sits in the very heart of the historic Saint Michel district. I hand blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment this charming French bridge scene.
