Description
The Latvian capital of Riga is the largest city of the Baltic States. Its gothic spires, onion domed churches and beautifully restored early 20th Century Art Nouveau architecture (widely accepted to be the finest collection in the world) make it an absolute joy to photograph. Alberta Iela (Albert Street) has a particularly large concentration of ornate architecture and is well worth a visit to see some very fine examples of the Art Nouveau architectural style. The building pictured here, at No.11, built in 1908, was designed by local Latvian architect Eizens Laube as were over 200 other buildings in the city. I hand blended a little texture with my original photograph in black and white, to compliment the old world feel of this classic Latvian street scene.
