Description
If you walk past the very famous and much photographed Kappelbrucke (or Chapel Bridge) in Lucerne and continue along the banks of the Reuss, you will eventually arrive at the lesser known Spreuer Bridge, the other covererd wooden footbridge spanning the river. Equally enchanting and full of old world charm, this 16th century gem is known for it's still present (45 of an original 67) paintings within the triangular frames of the roof, which together form a Danse Macabre or Totentanz in German. I found this bridge to be particularly fairytale like with it's bright red turrets and backdrop of pastel coloured architecture. Although overshadowed by it's larger companion, it's definitely worth seeing. I hand blended a little painterly texture to compliment the old world feel of this classic Swiss scene.
