Description

Venice, the enchanting city on emerald green water as seen from the Grand Canal. The Grand Canal itself is the perfect place to view the splendour of Venice. On the left of this image is the San Marco Campanile, visible throughout the city and an unmistakable landmark. Beside the Campanile, some of the well known buildings of St. Marks Square including the Basilica San Marco and to the right, the famous Doge's Palace, a 14th century wonder in the Venetian gothic style. Also visible to the right of the Doge's Palace, is the Bridge of Sighs, another historic gem in a city filled with architectural wonders. I hand blended textures with my original photograph to give this image a painterly feel as so many artists throughout history have been inspired by the beauty of Venice and I thought the look particularly suited the scene.
