Description
Tucked away behind the baroque St.Sebastian's Church, the small and intimate St Sebastian's Cemetery is renowned as the final resting place of many of Salzburg's most illustrious citizens of the past. World famous physician 'Paracelsus', was buried there in 1564, Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich, whose magnificent tomb lies within The Gabriel Chapel pictured here, but perhaps most well known of all, in a modest setting near the gated entrance, Mozart's father Leopold and his wife Constanze. I was fortunate enough to have this charismatic little square of tranquility in the heart of the city to myself on a snowy winter's morning, with just the haunting echoes of a violinist playing Mozart on the nearby Linzergasse for company, I couldn't help wondering if Leopold could still hear this beautiful music of his genius son, both melancholy and uplifting at the same time.
