Description
Salzburg is a city steeped in history. A wander through the UNESCO World Heritage Altstadt (Old Town) will assure you of this at every turn. The little winding alleys and streets are filled with character and the pastel coloured facades of the many windowed homes take you back in time to a bygone era. Salzburg is the birthplace of one of my favourite composers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and even though I'm sure a lot has changed since the 18th Century, I can't help but imagine him there as a young man, bounding along those very streets in his frock coat, heading to a recital, unaware of the future that lay ahead of him. There are reminders of him everywhere, this city has certainly not forgotten perhaps its most famous son. This shot was taken on Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse, the 14th Century, medieval Old City Hall (Altes Rathaus) visible in the centre.
