The charming old city of Strasbourg is located in Eastern France, near the border with Germany. Capital of the Alsace region, it is home to the official seat of the European Parliament, so there are both old and new places of interest to be found in this lovely area. The historic centre, Grand Ile (Grand Island) is a UNESCO World Heritage site and as such attracts many visitors from all over the globe who wish to take a step back in time in this picturesque medieval gem. The pastel toned half-timbered houses and quaint winding canals of the Petit France neighbourhood are particularly pleasing to the eye and there is something worth photographing at every turn. Pictured here is the Cathedral of Notre Dame, an imposing example of gothic architecture in pink sandstone, with a history dating all the way back to the year 1015. I blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment this old world French scene.
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
