It's not easy to find a moment of solitude in a city as congested as Venice, Italy. In the height of summer the canals are almost as busy a freeways and gondoliers jostle with packed Vaporetti and water taxis for their place in the Venetian traffic. But sometimes....just sometimes....you will be lucky enough to find that perfect place and as I spotted this gentleman, relaxing with a book as the subtle waves lapped beneath his feet, oblivious to his surroundings, I have to say, I felt rather envious. It seemed to me like the ideal way to experience Venice. As a local he had the luxury of enjoying the day at his own pace, far from the madding crowds. I blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment this old world Venetian scene.
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
