Artist's Description
Historic architecture of the Croix Rousse district of Lyon, France. High on the hill, this vibrant neighborhood with strong ties to Lyon's involvement with the silk industry, can be seen from all around the city. It is well worth the climb up the many steps to reach this treasure and seek out the hidden traboules and passageways that add even more mystery and charm to this wonderfully lively and bohemian area. Pictured here is one of the narrow lanes of Passage Thiaffait, a strikingly beautiful traboule that was once, in the early part of the 19th Century, inside the house of Francois-Felix Thiaffait. The passage has a somewhat colourful past but is now home to some exclusive boutique style stores. I blended a little texture with my original photograph in black and white, to compliment the old world feel of this vintage French scene.
About Carol Japp
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
