Artist's Description
Cimbing up any of the steep steps of Fourviere Hill is exhausting, particularly in the warmth of early autumn. The best way to experience the panoramic view of the city and especially the charming Vieux Lyon, is to take the historic funicular up and walk back down, less tiring and a lot more enjoyable! At the top of this daunting set of stone stairs, you have the most fantastic vista before you, out across the tiled rooftops, taking in the tower and flying buttresses of Cathedrale Saint Jean Baptiste (St John's Cathedral). This wonderful building situated on the bank of the Saone River and built in the gothic and romanesque architectural styles has a history dating back to the 12th Century. I hand blended a little texture with my original photograph in black and white to compliment the historic feel of this old world Lyon city scene.
About Carol Japp
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...

Wow, Carol! Now thats a view that goes on and on, I ,like it, amazing spot! I think you Know the secret to Great Photography, Its not the camera or the lens, its where the Artist makes her stand. That position allows you to take that shot and the second half is the Light. The Lighting if you are lucky is on your side depending on the mood you are engaging, sun shadow long absent, cloudy overcast, dark, twilight, night and the elements, sorry I go on and on and on... I like it!The blending of course too!
