Artist's Description

A vintage US Coast Survey Chart map of Welfleet Harbor, Massachusetts. This detailed United States Coastal Survey from the public domain was originally published around 1860 and re-issued in 1976 by Washington U.S. Dept. of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Ocean Survey, for The American Revolution Bicentennial. The map is from a trigonometrical survey under the direction of A. D. Bache, superintendent of the Survey of The Coast of The United States. Triangulation is by Capt. T.J.Cram and C.M.Eakin, assistant, topography by H.L.Whiting and J.B.Gluck assistant, hydrography by the party under the command of Lieut. C.H.McBlair, U.S.N.Asst. This reproduction map has been restored and converted to black and blue.
