Description
One of the things I was most looking forward to on a recent trip to the French city of Lyon, was the opportunity to explore the historic 'traboules' of the old town and beyond. An ancient labyrinth of secret doors and passageways, each one unique, revealing incredible examples of concealed architecture, some dating as far back as the 4th Century, when the first 'traboules' were built. These winding stairways and covered corridors were used by the silk merchants of the time as a means to transport their precious goods without ever exposing them to the damaging elements. People could move between buildings, and even streets, without ever venturing outside. And now...if you dare to push those heavy wooden doors, hold your breath to see if they will open and then take a peek inside, it will be well worth it to see these magnificent hidden architectural gems. I blended a little texture with my original black and white photograph to compliment this old world French scene.
