Description
The impressive Monument to the Restorers in Lisbon's Restauradores Square was erected in 1886. The public square commemorates the restoration of Portuguese Independence from Spainish rule in 1640 and the 30m high obelisk depicts various scenes of battle fought throughout the Portugese Restoration War. This delightful square is surrounded by beautiful old buildings including a fabulous example of Art Deco, the former Eden Theater, and is the starting point of Lisbon's main boulevard, the tree lined Avenida de Libertade. This image has added texture.
