Something I particularly enjoy whilst exploring the old towns of Europe is the variety of ornate doors, windows and balconies. It seems that no two homes are the same, every building unique and intriguing in its own way. Walls too can be any colour, from the palest of pastels to the most vivid of shades, delicate soft hues of peaches and cream to midnight blues and emerald greens, each one is truly a pleasant surprise and stirs the senses. I always find myself wondering about the characters of the individuals responsible for such decor, if people behind the doors are as lively or subdued as their surroundings. Pictured here is one of the many facades that caught my eye in Lisbon, Portugal. The bright red door against the sky blue wall at No.3 was difficult to miss. I wondered who would live in a house like this? I added a little texture to complete the image.
