The Douro River winds through the Northern Portuguese city of Porto, nestled between the hilly wine cellar covered municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia and the festival of colour that is old Porto. The vibrant Ribeira district and beyond lies on the right of the image, where splashes of sienna ,azure, terracotta, champagne pink and vivid yellow overlap each other haphazardly and fill the landscape like an artists often used palette. The aging architecture reflects the tones of its surroundings. The buildings appear to jostle for space but fit together jigsaw like, each piece complimenting the next perfectly and creating this beautiful vista on the hill. I hand blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment this old world Porto scene.
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
