Description
Built between 1819-1822, the Pont de Pierre was the first bridge to cross the Garonne River and connect the right and left banks of the city. One of the main landmarks of Bordeaux, this beautiful historic stone bridge, commissioned by Napoleon himself, has no less than 17 arches, which also happens to be the number of letters in the name Napoleon Bonaparte! Beyond the bridge, the spire of the 19th Century, neo-medieval style Eglise Sainte Marie de La Bastide can be seen. This church was designed by the same architect as the Sacre Coeur in Paris, I think you can see the similarities. I blended textures with my original photograph to compliment this charming French old world scene.
