Artist's Description
The ornate entrance of Picoas Metro Station, part of Lisbon's yellow line, is reminiscent of the early 20th Century Art Nouveau ones found in Paris. Long green stem like lamposts flank the stairway, leaves fashioned from metal provide partial cover to the red, bud like shades, the whole thing tipping it's hat to nature. Overlooking this grand entrance is a gigantic wall mural, this incredible graffiti art is part of the 'Crono Project', where abandoned buildings are used as blank canvas, giving artists the opportunity to revitalise derelict locations, bringing them to life with vibrant colour. Pictured here is the work of 'Os Gemeos', twin brothers from Brazil whose work often features the yellow skinned characters of their dreams. I added a little texture to enhance the artistic feel of the image.
About Carol Japp
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
