The Latvian capital, Riga, is known for its abundance of green spaces right in the heart of the city. One of the most popular is the 19th Century Bastejkalns or Bastion Hill in English. Close to the Opera House and a stone's throw from the Old Town, this beautifully landscaped park is the ideal place to relax and soak up the romantic atmosphere. Quaint little wooden boats move slowly along the Pilsetas Canal, lovers stroll hand in hand, stopping by the picturesque Love Lock bridge to pose for photos or add a personalised padlock to the ever growing collection and locals and tourists sit side by side on the benches dotted all around, soaking up the sun and watching the world go by.
