Description
Lucerne (or Luzern) is a magical and picturesque city nestled between snow capped mountains at the north end of Lake Lucerne. The historic Old Town (Altstadt) is a kaleidoscope of colour, each building unique, some with elaborate murals depicting tales of old. A spattering of covered bridges, turrets and medieval ramparts all add to the fairytale atmosphere of this enchanting and ancient city. The iconic Kapellbrucke, pictured here, is probably the most well known and photographed bridge in Switzerland. The oldest surviving Truss bridge in the world, it is instantly recognisable by its 'Water Tower' and is a most pleasant way to cross the Reuss River, the endearing sound of heels clicking against the floorboards and the smell of old wood is ever present from the Spruce, Linden and Maple used to rebuild the bridge after it suffered significant fire damage in 1993. I blended a little texture with my original black and white photograph to compliment this old world European scene.
