Description
The Speicherstadt (city of warehouses) area; seen here by the warm winter light of dusk; lies within the HafenCity Quarter in the Port of Hamburg. Built between 1883 and 1927 in the neo gothic; red brick architectural style; these buildings have entrances by land and water. Both impressive and grand; the UNESCO World Heritage status is certainly deserved. I visited the district in early evening and it was a joy to watch these gloriously vibrant facades fade as daylight receded and dusk fell. The glossy water surface reflecting glowing yellow light from within the tall buildings flanking the canal. I hand blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment the vintage feel of this old world Hamburg canal scene.
