There are many striking old world landmarks in the French city of Bordeaux. Among them is the iconic Grosse Cloche, an ancient bell tower built in the 15th century in the gothic architectural style. Proudly displayed on the city coat of arms, this beautifully preserved portal from the middle ages, served as an entrance to the old town and as a defensive fort along the city walls. It also had several practical uses, for example, in the event of a fire, the huge bell was sounded to alert the public, and believe it or not, the building was also used as a prison many years ago! I blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment the vintage feel of this historic French scene.
