Description
The Latvian capital, Riga, is the largest city of the Baltic States. Its multitude of gothic spires, spattering of onion domed churches and huge volume of beautifully restored early 20th Century Art Nouveau architecture (widely accepted to be the finest collection in the world) make it an absolute joy to photograph. The vista from the observation deck of the Latvian Academy of Sciences building across the rooftops towards the Daugava River and historic old town on a clear day is quite spectacular. On the far left, the gothic spire of St Peter's Church dominates the skyline, the clock tower of Riga Cathedral a close neighbor. I hand blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment the old world feel of this classic Latvian city scene in black and white.
