The landmark Wiener Riesenrad can be seen for miles around. The star attraction of Vienna's Prater Park, this giant Ferris Wheel was featured in the well known movie 'The Third Man'. On the day I visited the park, it was deserted, the crowds of summer, long gone. The big wheel creaked and groaned in the wind, the vivid red compartments swaying lightly, empty of people, but filled with mystery. There's something spellbinding about a fairground in winter, an eerie calm that's out of place, a haunting silence mocked by the garish cartoon faces looming from every corner.
