Description
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, one of the world's oldest shopping malls, built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877 is the perfect place for the Milanese to walk as it teems with life in the evening. The Galleria is often nicknamed 'il salotto di Milano' which translates as 'Milan's drawing room' - due to its many shops and popularity as a meeting and dining place. The vast amount of intricate detail and sheer scale of this beautiful arcade are nothing short of spectacular and would most definitely keep any visitor to this Northern Italian city enthralled. I blended textures with my original black and white photograph of the Galleria by night to achieve a more painterly style which I felt suited this vintage, old world scene.
