The historic Saint Pierre and Saint Paul districts of Bordeaux, France, are an absolute joy to explore. A warren of narrow cobblestone streets, lanes and alleys lead to and from delightful cafe filled squares with magnificent centrepiece fountains and no shortage of authentic French eateries. By day,the closely packed ancient buildings provide refuge from the blistering heat of the summer sun and by dusk, as daylight fades, the chatter of people enjoying French cuisine and local wine serve as a map, if you get lost, you just follow the voices back to a familiar spot. It's easy to lose track of time in a place like this, every street is a revelation with something new and yet old to focus on. I loved the turquoise doors and floral decorations of this street cafe facade, so inviting to the weary traveller. I blended textures with my original photograph to compliment this vintage old world French scene.
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
