Description
Walking up any of the long steps of Fourviere Hill is tiring, especially in the heat of early autumn. The best way to experience the panoramic view of the city and particuarly the charming Vieux Lyon, is to take the historic funicular upwards and come back down on foot, less exhausting and definitely more enjoyable! At the top of this never ending set of stone stairs, you have the most fantastic vista across the city rooftops, taking in the flying buttresses and tower of Cathedrale Saint Jean Baptiste (St John's Cathedral). This fabulous building, situated on the bank of the Saone River and built in the gothic and romanesque architectural styles has a history going all the way back to the 12th Century. I hand blended a little texture with my original vintage style photograph to compliment the old world feel of this picturesque Lyon scene.
