Description

There are many bridges spanning the Douro River in Porto but for me the most eye catching is without a doubt the Dom Luis (Ponte Luis). An icon of the city, this double decked metal arch bridge has taken passengers on foot, by car,trolleybus and metro across the river since opening in 1886. The views from the pedestrian walkway on the top deck are breathtaking but the height may also take your breath away as it is quite a drop to the water below!
