Description
There are many wonderful old world landmarks in the French city of Bordeaux. Among them, on Rue St James, the iconic Grosse Cloche, an ancient bell tower built in the 15th century in the gothic architectural style. Proudly displayed on the city coat of arms, this beautifully preserved portal from the middle ages, served as an entrance to the old town and as a defensive fort along the city walls. It also had several practical uses, for example, in the event of a fire, the huge bell was sounded to alert the public, and believe it or not, the building was also used as a prison many years ago! I hand blended a little texture with my original photograph in black and white, to compliment the vintage feel of this historic French street scene.
