A vintage map of the city of Baltimore, Maryland. This beautifully detailed map from the public domain is by Fielding Lucas Jr and B.T. Welch & Co., published in 1822. This city map was compiled from an actual survey and shows Baltimore as it was in the early 19th Century. This reproduction image has been restored and converted to black and white.

For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot.
