Description
Elevadors (or Funiculars) and trams are very important in a city with so many steep hills as the Portuguese capital Lisbon. In the height of summer, with temperatures sometimes reaching into the 40's, a rickety ride uphill on one of the more than a century old classic vehicles, with the breeze blowing gently through open windows throughout the slow ascent is so much more appealing than climbing on foot. No trip to Lisbon is complete without a trip on a classic tram. Pictured here is the entrance to the 'Ascensor da Bica', probably the most picturesque of all the routes, taking you from the waterfront to high above, in the heart of the Bairro Alto.
