Description

Riga, capital of Latvia, is the largest city of the Baltic States. Its spattering of gothic spires, abundunce of onion domed churches and plethora of beautifully restored early 20th Century Art Nouveau architecture (widely accepted to be the finest collection in the world) make it an absolute joy to photograph. Alberta Iela (Albert Street) has a particularly large concentration of ornate architecture and is well worth a visit to see some very fine examples of the Art Nouveau architectural style. The building above at No.8, built in 1903, was designed by Russian architect Mikhail Eisenstein as were many of the Jugendstil structures of this period. The city certainly deserved the title of European Capital of Culture in 2014. Art Nouveau Architecture in Riga Latvia has a little added texture.
