Description
Valencia is a city filled to the brim with fabulous art and architecture. A wander down a discreet alleyway or quiet lane in the historical centre, will often reveal a true hidden gem. The opulent facade of The National Museum of Ceramics and Decorative Arts (or Gonzalez Marti Museum), is one such wonder. The building, itself a palace, dates back to the late 15th century, but this incredible alabaster doorway by Jose Vergara, Hipolito Rovira, Ignacio Vergara and Luis Domingo was added during a rococo style refurbishment in 1740. You could spend quite a bit of time admiring the magnificent details of this fine work, picking out the various symbols and points of historic interest. A Very Ornate Doorway in Valencia Spain has added texture to complete the nostalgic feel.
