Description
The Portuguese capital Lisbon has no shortage of spectacular vantage points overlooking picturesque sprawling vistas filled with colour, each one more than worth the climb uphill. One of my favourites is the viewpoint at Santa Luzia. From there you can take a quiet seat amongst the typically Portuguese decorative blue tiles and admire the old quarter of Alfama below. Also to be found here is the beautiful church of Santa Luzia, the origins of which date back to the 12th Century. The present building, pictured here, is from the 18th Century. Adorned with fabulous glazed tile panels representing scenes from the history of Lisbon, the church is well worth a visit for it's striking surroundings, the vividly coloured Bougainvillea adding a wonderful splash of purple next to the stark white building.

Carol, this is a beautiful image of the Santa Luzia church. The color contrasts are lovely, and I like the textures very much. The perspective is terrific, revealing so many of the fine characteristics of this architecture. l.f.g+
