Description
A very short and pleasant train journey from the hustle and bustle of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, will take you to the picturesque town of Sintra. The pine covered hills are dotted with ornate castles and gardens, the jewel in the crown being the colorful romanticist style Pena Palace. Built in 1854, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts visitors from all over the world. Perched high on the hillside of the Sintra Mountains, this fairytale landmark overlooks the town and surrounding countryside and leaning over one of the many turrets, taking in the view, I felt just like Rapunzel. I added a little texture to complete the image.
